This week, Utah Camping Company recognizes the Citizen’s Committee to Save Our Canyons as a key organization in the protection of the Wasatch mountains, canyons, and foothills. Since 1972, this non-profit has been striving to educate the public on potential threats facing our valuable watersheds located within the Wasatch mountains. Save Our Canyons goal is to protect and preserve the wilderness and beauty of the public lands that are situated along Salt Lake City. They remain active in federal, state, county, and municipal levels of government in order to achieve their missions and preserve the health of the land not only for the sake of environmental quality, but also for the health of citizens and the economy. A few of their developed campaign categories include Wilderness Preservation and Conservation, Public Lands Stewardship and Forest Management, and Local Land Use Planning and Grassroots Activism. For those who share the same visions for their community, getting involved is easy through donations or volunteer opportunities.
Salt Lake City prides itself on being able to get the best of both the city life and the great outdoors. Locals and tourists are able to take advantage of hikes, bikes, climbing, camping, and skiing and snowboarding that lie in the Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons, regions in the Wasatch mountain range that are a mere 30 to 45-minute drive from downtown. Utah Camping Company’s mission is to make it easy for people to get outside and camp more. Our crew’s passion for the outdoors drives our goal to get others, local or foreign, to enjoy the natural beauty of Utah. From hiking with a four-legged friend to camping with family, we strive to provide people with what they need in order to experience the many pleasures of nature. The trails, campsites, and land that many utilize for outdoor recreation in the Salt Lake area are protected for public use by Save Our Canyons. We acknowledge the persevering members that fight for and protect the mountains and forests that make Salt Lake great. The same mountains and forests that people from all over the world come to visit and delight in. Utah Camping Company’s mission may very well not be possible without their past accomplishments and continuing successes. We give our appreciation to the Citizen’s Committee to Save Our Canyons.
